The Ash Technologies-developed application WallOne turns your desktop background into a gallery that showcases your favorite images. First up you must create a gallery. Then you must add any image you want to that gallery. Activate the collection and WallOne will use the images from that collection as your desktop background, regularly switching from one to another.

The installation file is quite lightweight; less than 1MB to be more precise. This means it will not take long to download the file onto your PC. It won’t take long to install the application either. Just launch the aforementioned installation file and a few clicks later you will be done. WallOne can be installed on any Windows edition from XP onward.

To access the interface, you must double click on the icon in the system tray; or right click the icon and select Open WallOne from the context menu. There are two tabs in the upper left hand corner of the interface: Collections and Collection Settings.

At the top in the Collections tab there’s a panel that lists all your collections, tells you how many wallpapers are in the collections, and tells you what hotkey you assigned to each collection. Select a collection and the images included in that collection will be presented in the lower part of the interface. You can add more images to the collection, preview images from the collection, play with individual wallpaper settings, and edit the images from the collection.

From the Collection Settings tab you can play with a few options: pick the refresh rate, choose the background color, pick the sequence type, and more.

Once you create a collection, set it up just the way you want it, activated it, sit back and relax. WallOne will display the selected images based on the settings you specify.

Please note that the WallOne trial does not allow you to add more than 10 images per collection. You should also note that WallOne is free to try for a 30-day period. Another downside is that starting with Windows 7, Microsoft built similar functionality into its operating system.

Use WallOne to turn your desktop into a gallery that showcases your favorite images.

Pros

The installation process goes along smoothly and rapidly. Easily create collections, add any image you want to the collections, play with wallpaper display settings, edit the images. You can assign hotkeys to collections, pick the display mode, choose the sequence, and more.

Cons

The trial is limited to 10 images per collection, free to use for a 30-day trial period, Windows 7 already offers similar functionality.
